JOINING THE RYDA

RYDA Membership is £2.50 per year! –The same as a lottery ticket. (or 5 years for £10 = 2 coffee’s)

Unlike the lottery which often does not come up trumps for most of us, the RYDA Membership fee helps the whole community.

But what do we do with your membership Money?

• The RYDA is very privileged to be able to manage two woods which we lease from The Woodland Trust. Both are in Noss and are managed by an enthusiastic management sub-committee.
• We also own and manage Court woodland, in Newton Ferrers, which was purchased with the aid of donations, since its purchase we have cleared paths, built steps, provided notices and benches.
• For many years, the RYDA has organised the annual harbour clean-up in the Spring to clear the harbour, river and banks of all the rubbish that gets blown in over the winter months or gets dropped in the water by water-users.
• We pay for public liability insurances for the 3 woodlands and the harbour Clean up.

• We are  dedicated to ensuring that our beautiful unspoilt environment is preserved, our heritage is conserved and the future of our community is assured.

• We send you a monthly newsletter, providing information of recent planning applications for your comment; as well as notification of events around the Yealm.
• We repaired the bollards at Popes Quay, and replaced the flag pole.
• We provide the Union Flag for Popes Quay, which needs replacing frequently depending on storms.
• We sourced hand rails for the steps at Popes Quay.(The RYDA contributed £200; along side NNPC, SHDC & Newton & Noss Network who contributed the same amounts each)
• We recently replaced two of the benches at Noss green, & are looking at doing 2 more.
• We produce the Village directory
• The web site, and SiteLock security cost approx. £225.16.per year.
  
• We provided a grant of £1,500 to the Newton & Noss Neighbourhood Plan.
• We provided a grant of £1,000 to the Post Office Action Group which has helped to save the Community Shop and Post Office.
• We now have to pay bank charges as our bank, in line with other banks, has introduced a monthly fee for Charity Accounts.

We do have a little out side help with funding, ie:

• We receive a grant of £35 per year from the Parish Council and the River Yealm Harbour Authority to cover the insurance costs of the harbour clean-up.
• We are very fortunate that Luscombe Maye funded the entire cost of printing the previous edition of the village directory and has agreed to do so for the next edition.

So you see, your £2.50 has to go a long way; so If you aren’t a contributing member yet, please consider doing so.

We take nothing for ourselves; - phone calls, electricity, paper & printing ink (& there is a lot of it used at the time of the AGM) and time is all provided on a voluntary basis by your hard working committee.

Joining the RYDA is very straightforward.  All you need to do is:

1.Decide whether you wish to join for one year at £2.50;  or for 5 years at £10.

2.Complete the Membership Application Form.

3.You can pay by cash or cheque, or preferably complete the Standing Order form.  For obvious administrative reasons, we do hope that you opt for the Standing Order.

4.Send the Form and your remittance to the Membership Secretary (address on the application form).

5.In return you will receive your free copy of the current Village Directory.  If you have gone for the 5 year membership option, you will also recieve the next edition of the Directory for free as soon as it is published.
